Joseph Alessi Sr, American trumpeter, son of famous trumpeter, father of two famous musicians, served in the U.S. Navy in WWII, played in Radio City Music Hall, coprincipal of the Met Orchestra, played in the Edwin Franko Goldman Band, played in Las Vegas, moved to California to teach, became professor of trumpet at Cal State San Francisco, designed the Alessi-Vacchiano straight mute and the Jo-Ral mutes, born in Brooklyn, New York.
