Johnny Letman, American jazz trumpeter, played with Nat King Cole at the Royal Dukes and with Ray Charles and with many other Midwest bands in the 1930s and 1940s, moved to NYC and played with many great jazz bands such as those of Cab Calloway, Count Basie, played in Paris in 1968, toured internationally in the 1980s with the New Orleans Blues Serenaders, born in McCormick, South Carolina.
