Clifford Thornton, American jazz trumpeter and valve trombonist, spend four years in an Army band in Korea and Japan, played free jazz with Sun Ra, Pharaoh Sanders, the New Arts Ensemble, moved to Europe in 1969, returned to U.S. in 1970 joining jazz faculty at Wesleyan Univ, formed his own label, born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
