George Swift, British trumpeter, studied with his father, at 10 years old played in the Bolden Colliery Band, then the Hebburn Colliery Band and the Marsden Colliery Band, at 15, joined St. Hilda’s Colliery Band, at 19, joined the London Sonora Band (a touring dance band), during WWII played with the Band of the Irish Guards, after War, joined the Sydney Kaye Orchestra and was leading freelance musician, joined the Mantovani orchestra in 1960, lived in Spain off and on from 1960s, premiered Iain Hamilton’s Concerto for Jazz Trumpet with the Royal Philharmonic in 1957, born in South Shields, England.
