Nicholas Payton, American jazz trumpeter, grew up in musical family in New Orleans, played with Art Blakey’s Jazz Messengers, toured with Marcus Roberts, played with and directed Elvin Ray Jones’ Jazz Machine, formed his own group to record with Verve Records, leader of the Louis Armstrong revival band, played with The Blue Note 7, toured with the Barcelona Jazz Orch, born in New Orleans, Louisiana.
