Jon Eardley, American trumpeter, son of trumpeter in Paul Whiteman’s orchestra, played in military band (1946-49), then Buddy Rich’s band and others, moved to NYC to play with Phil Woods and Gerry Mulligan’s Quartet and Sextet, dropped out for a while, then moved to Brussels, playing for Belgium Radio and TV, known as a “cool” jazz trumpeter, born in Altoona, Pennsylvania.
