Phil Napoleon, American trumpeter, formed his own band at 16, the Original Memphis Five as well as performing freelance as a classical musician, recorded many tunes with his own group (1922-38), backup artist for many singers, performed pop tunes in a jazz style, staff musician for RCA and later for NBC, reformed his group and played at Nick’s in NYC, formed a big band in the 1950s, died in Miami, Florida.
