John Windhurst, American trumpeter, self-taught, non-reading trumpeter, played in Sidney Bechet’s band in Boston, went to California to play with Nappy Lamare, became member of Eddie Condon’s band, led his Riverboat Five, toured with Jack Teagarden’s band, died in Poughkeepsie, New York of alcohol-related heart attack.
