This Day in History: 1983-10-02

Francis Williams, American trumpeter, began career in 1930 with Frank Terry’s Chicago Nightingales, in 1940 moved to NYC and became member of Fats Waller’s big band, then played with numerous others, including Duke Ellington, toured Europe as a soloist, played in various Latin bands, member of the Harlem Blues and Jazz Band, McConnell’s Mills, Pennsylvania, died in Houston, Pennsylvania.
