Gottfried Reiche, German trumpeter, accepted into the string players guild in Leipzig in 1700, became a Stadt-pfeifer and senior Stadt-pfeifer in 1719, first trumpeter to J.S. Band from 1723-34, had portrait commissioned for him by Elias Gottlob Haussmann, composed many “tower fanfares,” died of stroke in Leipzig, Germany.
