Cecil Bridgewater, American jazz trumpeter and composer, toured with the Univ of Illinois big band, played with his brother Ron in the Bridgewater Brothers (1969), won awards for his playing in the Univ of Illinois big band, played in Horace Silver’s quintet, Thad Jones-Mel Lewis Orch, Max Roach Quartet, Art Blakey’s Jazz Messengers, Jimmy Heath, Count Basie Orch, and many others, taught at New York’s New School, Juilliard, SUNY-Queens, Manhattan School of Music, born in Urbana, Illinois.
