Mike Mossman, American jazz trumpeter, trombonist and composer, joined the American Youth Jazz Orch, toured with Anthony Braxton’s group, academically gifted (National Merit Scholar) who studied sociology and anthropology at Oberlin (as well as music), played with the Jazz Members big band in Chicago, moved to NYC and played with Machito’s band, Out of the Blue, Art Blakey’s Jazz Messengers, played in Lionel Hampton’s big band, Gerry Mulligan’s band, and many others, formed his own bands, Rebirth of the Cool and Metaphysical Mambo, talented also in classical sphere (played with many orchestras and a classical recording), teacher at Aaron Copland School of Music, born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
