Edna White, American trumpeter, child prodigy on cornet, obtained soloist bookings from 1904, fronting the Pryor Band, performed “The Trumpet Shall Sound,” formed the Aida Quartet, an all-female quartet (one trumpet, three cornets) that toured 1908-12, with the Edna White Trumpeters, played at the 1915 Panama Pacific Exposition in San Francisco, formed the highly-successful Gloria Trumpeters (2 trumpets, 2 trombones), wrote book “The Night the Camel Sang” (1990), lost all in crash of 1929 but managed to scrape by, played on radio broadcasts, performed in Carnegie Hall and continued performing throughout the 1950s, born in Stamford, Connecticut.
