Ronald Simmonds, Canadian jazz trumpeter, grew up in Englands, played in Tommy Sampson’s orchestra from age 19, played in several other big bands including Jack Parnell’s, played pit orchestra of West Side Story for thee years, played for German Radio, composed and arranged music, switched to piano when lip was paralyzed in dental procedure, died in Vania, Spain.
