Clifford Brown, American jazz great, from musical family, studied with Robert Lowery and Harry Andrews in high school, led his high school jazz band, played jam sessions in Philadelphia just out of high school, had car accident in 1950 that left him disabled for a year, played with the Charlie Parker Quintet, with Jimmy Heath, with R&B group Chris Powell and his Five Blue Flames, began to record frequently on Blue Note, toured Europe with Lionel Hampton, played with Art Blakey, co-led group with Max Roach in L.A., born in Wilmington, Delaware.
