This Day in History: 1933-10-30

Gustav Heim, German trumpeter, on leave from his military band in Germany played in the 1904 St. Louis World’s Fair and from there hired as principal trumpet of the Philadelphia Orchestra, then Boston Symphony Orchestra (1907-20), founded Boston Philharmonic Band (cornet soloist), principal in Detroit (1920), played with the New York Philharmonic, New York Symphony, Cleveland, taught William Vacchiano and Harry Glantz (but was rude to him because of anti-semitism), died in Ithaca, New York.
