Max Schlossberg, Latvian trumpeter and renowned teacher, bandmaster of the 171st Regiment Band in Riga, defected to U.S. in 1902 (citizen of U.S. in 1914), brass teacher at the Hebrew Orphan Asylum, played in the Gilmore Band, played in the New York Philharmonic-Symphony from 1910 to 1936 (4th and 2nd trumpet), taught at the Institute of Musical Art (now Juilliard), known as a very kind man, born in Libau, Latvia.
