Allesandro Libertati, Italian cornetist, joined Papal army in 1864, playing first cornet in the First Cacciatori Band of Rome, bugler in Garibaldi’s army, special soloist in 1872 Peace Jubilee, director of Artillery Bands for all of Canada, U.S. citizen in 1876, conductor of the Michigan National Guard Band, soloist with Baldwin’s Band of Boston, first in the Philharmonic Society of NY (1879-80), soloist on series in NYC Central Park (1881), formed “The World Renowned Liberati Band,” recorded for Edison (1898-1915), one of the greatest cornetist ever, died in NYC.
