Hannibal Lokumba, American trumpeter, composer and poet, while in high school formed a jazz group called the Soul Masters that backed many important artists, toured with T-Bone Walker’s band, worked with Rahsaan Roland Kirk, played with the Thad Jones/Mel Lewis Orch, Pharaoh Sandra, Gil Evans, and others, commissioned composer for many orchestras, born in Smithville, Texas.
