Hippolyte Jean Duhem, Belgian trumpeter and cornetist, principal of the Royal Theater of the Monnaie, First Guard Regiment band, taught at the Brussels Conservatory (1860-88), cornet soloist with the Kursaal Orchestra (1870-71), commissioned a piston high D trumpet from Courtois to be made (first of its kind), born in Paris, France.
