Peter Bocage, American jazz trumpeter, as violinist played in dance bands in New Orleans from age 13, at 21 leader of the Superior Orchestra (a popular ragtime band), taught himself how to play cornet and played with the Papa Celestin at the Tuxedo Dance Hall, the Onward Brass Band, Fate Marable’s band on the Capitol riverboat, played with most professional groups in New Orleans, left music from 1939 to 1945, but returned to play at Preservation Hall, died in New Orleans, Louisiana.
