Johann Christoph Pezel, German trumpeter, violinist and composer, became member of the Ratsmusiker (tower musician), appointed a Kunstgeiger in the Leipzig town band in 1664, promoted to Stadtpfeifer for life in 1670, published two surviving collections of tower music for five-part cornett and sackbut ensemble, as well as several pieces for trumpet in mixed chamber music, moved away from Leipzig because of the plague, born in Glatz, Silesia.
