Kenny Dorham, American jazz trumpet legend, played with Russell Jacquet, Dizzy Gillespie’s band, the Bebop Boys, Billy Eckstine’s orchestra, Lionel Hampton, Mercer Ellington, Charlie Parker’s quintet, the Jazz Messengers (charter member), leader of the Jazz Prophets, member of Max Roach’s quintet, taught at the Lenox School of Music, composed hundreds of well-known jazz tunes, died in NYC.
