Henry Brown, American cornetist, at age 16 joined the National Theater Orchestra in Boston, at 19 was cornet soloist with the Boston Brigade Band, at 21 was its leader, became leader of the Salem Cadet Band, during Civil War, led the 23rd Massachusetts Infantry Band, cornet soloist at the Gilmore Peace Jubilee of 1869, solo tour throughout Europe in 1872, played Schubert’s Elegy of Tears for funeral procession of prominent politician, became wealthy real estate investor, died in Boston, Massachusetts.
