Wilmer Wise, American trumpeter, one of the first black trumpeters to become a leading classical performer, played 2nd trumpet in the Trenton Symphony, Dick Clark’s Youth Band, the Intruders, the Club Harlem Band in Atlantic City (1962), Quincy Jones’ band, performed Haydn’s trumpet concerto with the Philadelphia Orchestra, principal in Brooklyn Philharmonic, assistant principal of the Baltimore Symphony Orch (1965-70), member of the Symphony of the New World, lead trumpet in recording of West Side Story under Bernstein, performed more than 30 Broadway shows, taught at Peabody Conservatory, born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
