Ralph Marterie, Italian trumpeter, immigrated to Chicago when boy, after high school became staff musician for NBC Radio in Chicago, became leader of a fleet band in WWII, after service returned to Chicago as staff musician for ABC Radio, formed his own dance band in 1949 that turned out many hits, born in Accerra, Italy.
