Clyde McCoy, American trumpeter, member of the famous McCoy family in the Hatfield and McCoy feud, performed on riverboats and local theaters, founded his own band, became famous for plunger and growling effects on Sugar Blues, making him famous and selling more than a million records, played at the Drake Hotel in Chicago, cofounded Downbeat magazine in 1935, enlisted (with his entire band) into the Navy in WWII, after war continued with his band until 1955, born in Ashland, Kentucky.
