Robert (“Jonah”) Jones, American jazz trumpeter, played with Jimmy Lunceford in 1931, joined Lil Armstrong’s orchestra in 1934 and then McKinney’s Cotton Pickers, joined swing violinist Stuff Smith and worked in NYC until 1940, joined Cab Calloway’s band, performed on Porgy and Bess on Broadway, played with a quartet in the 1950s, born in Louisville, Kentucky.
